Neue Sommerakademie! Die von der HKB in Partnerschaft mit dem Berliner KW Institute for Contemporary Art ausgetragene Summer School gibt sich ein neues Format – und eine neue Kuration, ab diesem Jahr gestaltet die Künstlerin Dora García jeweils einen Zweijahreszyklus, für den man sich noch bis Mitte Mai bewerben kann. Zu wünschen wäre, dass das neu ein wenig mehr nach aussen strahlt, in die Stadt zurück, und sich nicht mehr so ganz nach «closed-door seminars» anfühlt. Denn das Thema ist so spannend wie dringend: The urgent need for feminization.
Is the new type of work that feminist and queer feminist curating performs today, and which I conceive of to be co-dependent much rather than independent, crucial to an ongoing process of transformation from contemporary art into a not-yet-named art?

«Feminization» wird hier in einem sehr weiten Sinn verstanden – es geht nicht nur um die Gleichstellung der Geschlechter, sondern um eine umfassende De-Privilegierung, zunächst einmal in unseren Köpfen, dann hoffentlich auch in der Politik, und überhaupt in allen Räumen, denen Ungleichheiten eingeprägt sind.
By understanding that the liberation of women can only happen with a total change of paradigm, a complete subversion of values, opening to an inclusive way of being in the world, leaving no one behind. The feminization of politics means, in the area of government and urbanism, municipalism, decentralization, interdependence. In the area of literature and the arts, feminization means to boldly question seemingly “eternal” notions of quality and the canon, and to raise awareness of the possibility of different art circuits that do not reproduce privilege. It also means to subvert the notions of center and periphery, insiders and outsiders, market value and symbolic value.
Wie weiter also? Alles neu, Subversion aller Werte? Oder schlicht und einfach – angesichts der aktuellen Umstände: continuer? Der Kanton schreibt Beiträge für Kulturschaffende an Entwicklung und Vertiefung aus. Da wurde ein ziemliches Päckli geschnürt: Insgesamt stehen 70 bis 80 Beiträge für Kulturschaffende und Kollektive / Gruppen zur Verfügung, jeweils in der Höhe von rund 10’000 Franken. Hier bewerben!
